Camping Conditions and Prices

Site Booking

Campers on Shell Island must book in at Reception on arrival before pitching tent. Campers may not be admitted 8 pm (9.00pm Fridays). All Fees are payable in advance at Reception

Accounts

Cards accepted Visa - Mastercard - Switch - Delta. No cheques accepted. ATM machine avilable in Snack Bar.

Sites

Sites must be vacated and accounts settles by 3.00 p.m. on day of departure. Campers not complying with this condition will be charged an extra night’s fees. Campers are expected to leave their site tidy and free of all rubbish and stones. All rubbish to be taken to green skips conveniently located about the island.

Privacy

Campers may not pitch their tents within 20 yards/metres of another tent in the same field unless prior arrangement has been made with adjoining campers. Offenders are liable to be reported, when action will be taken to remedy the situation. The siting of tents should occupy the perimeter of the fields first. Centres of fields will only be used when the perimeters is fully occupied. Camping Pitches in the dune areas are as and where there are convenient pitches that afford some privacy to neighbouring campers.

Camp Fires

Campfires are not permitted on Shell Island, except on the beaches Smoke annoyance to other campers will not be tolerated. Barbecues are permitted. Disposable barbecues must be raised off the ground on a bed of stones. Any one having campfires on the beach are responsible for clearing all rubbish away afterwards. Do not leave glass bottles and cans on the beaches.

Noise

No portable generators allowed. Radios and Televisions must have volume controls adjusted so as not to disturb other campers. Radios of at 11pm.

Animals

Dogs must be kept under strict control at all times. Damage or annoyance will result in their owners being asked to leave the island. Dogs are not allowed in the Leisure complex buildings. Dog waste bins are sited around the island and doggy bags are available free from Gate house

Motorcycles and Bicycles

Campers using bicycles must wear crash Helmets.  Motor Cycles or motor scooters etc are not allowed

Toilets

The main toilets are situated in the central part of the Island. Satellite toilets are at the Green cabin and in portaloos around the island. Please report immediately to the management any person thieving of doing wilful damage. Campers using elsan toilets are advised that they must be taken to the disposal point adjoining the toilet block.

Showers

The shower block is situated behind and below the main toilet block. Showers are free and may only be used by campers and boat owners. Please report any day visitors using showers to reception.

Water Supply

Taps are conveniently situated in general next to gateways. Water taps are for filling water containers only. Washing under taps is strictly forbidden. Washing up area avaiable behind shower block. Please report any water leakage - water is precious, and this could save your area from being cut off.

Driving on Shell Island

UK driving law apply to Shell Island. (This includes Drink Driving) A speed limit of 20 mph covers the whole of Shell Island. 10 mph near Toilets and central area.

Kites

All Power Kite Owners must show Insurance. The may be flown 400 Metres South of the main Beach Car Park. Buggy Kites by prior arrangement.

Boat Owners

Boats and their equipment are at OWNERS RISK. No claim can be entertained by the management for personal injury, loss of life, theft, damage or total loss of boat. All boats on trailers must be registered on arrival. Insurance documents are required for all trailed boats. Trailers to be parked at owner’s camp. Speed limit 5 mph inside outer buoy.

Tavern Bar 11.00 am - 11.00 p.m. (Sunday 12am—10.30 pm)

Snack Bar 8.30 am—9.00 pm Actual times of opening are displayed at the door.

Cooked Food Breakfast 8.30 am—10.30 am Lunch 12.00—3.00 Evening Meals 6.00 pm—8.30 pm

Shower Opening Hours 8.00am—1.00pm and 4.00 pm—10.00pm

Mail/ Post Incoming available Supermarket 10.30 am Outgoing from Box outside Supermarket 9.00 am

Laundrette located next to Supermarket, where tokens are available.

Emergencies

There is no first aid post at Shell Island. Any assistance that can be given will be given. All campers are advised to carry their own first aid box. If you require an emergency service, Doctor, Police, Ambulance, Fire brigade or Coastguard, please inform Reception or any member of staff on Duty so that arrangements can be made for the service to come onto site via the Airfield in the event of the tide being up. 24 hr telephone available at entrance to Snack Bar. Nearest Accident and Emergency Hospital -1 hour away. Fire Boxes are provided within 200 Metres of all Campsites. In the event of a fire breaking out at your tent— raise the alarm, and get everyone out first, then fetch a fire extinguisher from a fire box to fight the fire.

CONDITIONS

Caravans are NOT permitted on the Island. Cars, Landrovers are not permitted to stay overnight unless their owners have a tent for sleeping purposes. The Entrance Gates are locked from 12.00 midnight until 8.00 am during the main season and a night watchman is available to open the gates in an emergency. Vehicles are not permitted to drive around after midnight or before 7.00 am. Emergencies give exemption to this rule.

The practice of Naturism is not permitted on Shell Island. There is an official Naturist Beach 2 miles to the South of Shell Island.

All campers’ accounts to be settled in advance. No refunds will be entertained. Tents left unoccupied and without notification for more than 4 days will be assumed to be abandoned and disposed of. There is no site booking service, sites are available on a first come first serve basis. In the event of the site being full or likely to be full we will endeavour to post warnings on the website.No youngsters allowed without parental supervision. No single sex groups without prior arrangement

Adults £6.00 person per night or £35 per person for 7 nights

Children (3-15yrs) £2.50 per child per night or £15.00 per child for 7 nights

July August AND whit week

Adults £7.00 per person per night or £40.00 per person for 7 nights

Children (3-15yrs) £3.00 per child per night or £18.00 per child for 7 nights

Whitsun Weekend and August Bank Holiday weekend minimum 3-night stay.

 

Dogs (max 2) £2.00 each per night

 Trailered boats £5.00 per Night or £30.00 per week

Unoccupied Tents £25.00 per night
