General Conditions for Online Bookings 2022

ALL BOOKINGS MUST BE MADE 1 BOOKING PER HOUSEHOLD FOR TRACK AND TRACE PURPOSES. WE MAY ASK FOR IDENTIFICATION WITH PROOF OF ADDRESS UPON ARRIVAL FOR ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR BOOKING, FAILURE TO SUPPLY US WITH THIS MEANS WE WILL HAVE TO REFUSE ENTRY.
DUE TO LIMITED NUMBERS AVAILABLE TO STAY, DURING BUSY TIMES WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE THAT ONCE ONSITE THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EXTEND YOUR STAY. IF WE ARE FULL NO EXTRA NIGHTS CAN BE ADDED ON TO STAYS.
From today (28/06/2021) onwards if you arrive late for a booking or bring less people that are booked, we will not issue any credit notes for this unless we are told minimum 48 hours prior to your arrival, this is due to us loosing spaces that could have been used by other people.
Upon booking you will receive a confirmation email with a barcode that you must present on arrival for us to retrieve your booking details, please also read the important information attachment from your booking confirmation prior to arrival, as this will advise you on any changes onsite due to COVID restrictions.
If you or a member of you party is unwell, please do not travel to Shell Island. We will move your booking to another date (if available).
Credit card/Debit card details are entered on a secure page and are transferred using SSL. Shell Island does not have access to any of your card details, as all payments are processed via sage pay with 3D secure. Once a booking is made payment is held by sage pay until we confirm the booking. If a booking is not confirmed for any reason and a refund is issued, the refund may take upto 3 working days to be processed back into the card holders account.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT TOURING CARAVANS, 3RD WHEEL TRAILERS, FOLDING CARAVANS (SOLID SIDES WITH SOLID ROOF) OR TOW ABLE CAMPING PODS/TEAR DROP TRAILERS
During Bank holidays and school holidays, it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. If a date goes full via the online bookings, there will be no allocation on arrival.
Shell Island is a family and couples only Campsite – NO BOOKINGS WILL BE TAKEN FROM GROUPS. IF WE SUSPECT YOU ARE A GROUP ON ARRIVAL OR JOINING ON SITE, WE WILL REFUSE ENTRY AND ASK YOU TO LEAVE OUR SITE WITH NO REFUND. WE CHECK ALL BOOKINGS AFTER EACH ONE HAS BEEN MADE, SHOULD WE BE SUSPICIOUS OR THINK YOU HAVE BROKEN OUR TERMS/CONDITIONS, AFTER OUR SECURITY CHECK, WE WILL REVOKE THE BOOKING AND ISSUE A REFUND. All payments are held by sage pay until we confirm them, if a refund is issued it may take up to 3 working days for sage pay to process your refund back in to the card holders account.
Full payment will be due at the end of the booking. A booking is not confirmed until you receive your confirmation email from Shell island. Payment receipt is not a confirmation of booking.
We do not accept all male or all female parties/groups or groups of any kind.
You must have your own mode of transport. Families/Couples wishing to turn up on the train/bus, should phone before to check with us. Exceptions may be made. Maximum amount of cars per booking is 2.
If more than one car has been booked, both cars need to be registered with their number plates prior to arrival in order to collect the car passes/ wristbands. Not doing this will delay entry for the first car onto the camp site.
The Booking is for the total amount of people that you have paid for. Extra people will NOT be admitted onto the site on arrival with your booking confirmation. They will need their own booking.
Shell Island is accessed via a tidal causeway road, which is subject to tidal flooding. It is up to the booking individual to check that the tide does not affect their holiday. Tide timetables are on our website and printable. DO NOT CROSS THE CAUSEWAY WHEN THE TIDE IS IN FLOOD.
On arrival to Shell Island you should come to Reception with your booking reference sheet, which is emailed to you after confirmation of payment.
All prices are inclusive of VAT at 20%. If the VAT rate changes the price will increase or decreased accordingly and the actual amounts due will be determined by the rate prevailing on the day your money is received.
For Summer half term (Whit) minimum amount of nights for bookings is 2 nights from Friday 27th May until Friday 2nd June (inclusive). Minimum stay for people paying on arrival (subject to availability) is 2 nights...
For Thursday 25th August, online bookings are a minimum of 3 nights or more.
For Friday 26th August minimum stay is 3 nights, and 2 nights Saturday 29th due to limited numbers available onsite. During any minimum nights stayed dates (i.e. bank holidays), no refunds or credit notes will be given for early departures.
OAP rate (over 60) only applies during April, May, September and October (excluding May half term, all bank holidays and Friday and Saturday nights) @ £9.25 per night per person
Maximum amount of nights you can book online is 14. If you wish to stay longer please contact asap to check availability. You may only extend onsite if there is availability, this is not always guaranteed. If nights are available please bring your car pass to reception and then we will add more nights on at our normal camping price as advertised under Camping Prices 2022. Pitches for each day will be limited, but will include all days that Shell Island is open for the season, including Bank Holidays. After you have booked online, you will still have to come to Reception for a car pass.
You may arrive for camping from 8am till 8pm any day of the week excluding Fridays which is 9pm. Should you turn up after this time, you will be put in a field next to the Security house and will have to move onto the main site the next morning. No exceptions. Pitches must be vacated by 3pm on day of departure.
Booking online does not guarantee a "specific pitch". It is up to yourselves to find a suitable pitch. Shell Island does NOT do a pitch allocation/ reserve site system.
Unfortunately, NO extra people can be added to any booking, once the booking has been confirmed and finalized.
BOOKINGS ARE NON TRANSFERABLE, if you can not make your booking please contact reception where we can assist changing dates or issuing a credit note.
Please note: If we believe that you have left early (i.e. vacated the site with no intention to return before your departure date) we have the right to re-let your pitch. No refunds will be made for early departures.
There are a few fields where dogs are not allowed at anytime. Shell Island beach is one of the few beaches that dogs are allowed on, so please clean up after your dog.
Visitors to your pitch may come on site, after paying the daily admission fee, £10.00 per car, between 8am till 8pm. During busy times when the site is full no day visitors will be admitted on to site.
We politely remind you that once a booking is confirmed, you have entered into a contract with us. Should you wish to cancel your booking, it will be subject to our cancellation policy:
The Administration fee (£3) is non refundable, but, if you cancel more than 21 days prior to your arrival date, we will credit the cost of your holiday to use against another time in the next 13 months from date of issue. (Administration fees are not refundable or carried forward; they contribute towards the cost of payment processing, and postage).
No refunds will be made for early departures with online bookings.
Failure to turn up on the Arrival day that you have booked, will result in that night's camping fee being forfeited with no refund or credit being given from Shell Island. If you arrive with less people than what you have booked for and not informed us 48 hours before hand we can not offer a refund or credit note. We may also give your space to another customer.
Once the completed Booking Form and your payment have been received and accepted by us, we will issue you with an email confirmation. The contract between us will only be formed when we send you our email confirmation and is subject to these terms and conditions. We reserve the right to refuse any booking prior to the issue of our email confirmation. If we do this, we will promptly refund any money you have paid to us. The first email you receive is not a confirmation of booking, it is an email letting you know that your booking request has been sent.
The Administration fee (£3) will cover your cancellation up to 21 days prior to the day of arrival. Shell Island will only refund if cancellation is due to any of the following: Death of an immediate family member (specifically spouse/partner, parents, children or a brother/sister - this cover does not extend to any other family members), serious illness or redundancy.
Cancellation has to affect one of the named members of the booked party. Please note that the claim must be in writing and supported by relevant documents (doctors note, P45, death certificate, with postcode and house name/number). We do not reimburse the cost of securing these documents.
Shell Island Camping Gift Vouchers CAN be redeemed via the online booking system, please phone prior to making your booking and speak to someone in the Reception office.
Caravans/ Tow able pods & Jet Ski's are not permitted on the Shell Island.
Any malicious or unruly behaviour will not be tolerated. In the event of such actions, the parties involved will be asked to leave immediately with no reimbursement. This is in the interest of all our customers being able to have an enjoyable holiday. The company reserves the right to terminate any booking at any time.
The proprietors disclaim all responsibility for any injury or damage to guest's property or to their person or to their children by fire, theft, water or any third party or by any means whatsoever whilst they are on site. This includes acts of God, natural disasters, weather, war, animals and insects. We strongly advise that you take out holiday insurance against such an eventuality.
The proprietors reserve the right to waive any particular conditions in individual cases or to amend or vary the terms and conditions as they may decide in their absolute discretion.
The proprietors reserve the right to refuse entry to any one they see fit, after a booking has been made, or after the individual’s arrival on site, and if refused, give a refund. We will do our own security check with our own database.
The information supplied you will be stored on a computer and NOT be used in marketing from Shell Island Ltd or sold on. We do NOT see your Bank Deatails etc as SAGEPAY handle all online transactions. We will not forward any of your details to any other company. We will send you email confirmations for your booking only, and if a problem occurs more serious with your booking, we may contact you direct via phone. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1984 the signing of the booking form signifies assent to this.
